In a swift operation on June 7, 2023, the local police in Mzwini Location, located just outside East London, successfully apprehended a 48-year-old male suspect. The arrest came as a result of a prompt response by the police force after they received a complaint regarding an armed individual. Upon further investigation, law enforcement discovered that the suspect was also involved in the illicit drug trade.
Following the lead provided by the complaint, the police managed to trace the whereabouts of the suspect and located him in his residence. During the search, authorities uncovered four large plastic bags containing TIK, a highly addictive drug, with an estimated street value of R8000.00. The search of the suspect’s room further yielded an unlicensed firearm, along with a magazine loaded with six live ammunition rounds, a toy gun, 30 boxes of illicit cigarettes, a firearm holster, and an undisclosed sum of cash.
The suspect was promptly taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of drugs, and possession of illicit cigarettes. He is scheduled to appear before the East London Magistrate Court on June 8, 2023.
The police force has been commended for their quick response, efficient investigation, and successful apprehension of the suspect.
