In a successful intelligence-driven operation, the K9 Unit East London collaborated with local law enforcement to apprehend a 30-year-old man in Butterworth yesterday. The suspect was arrested on charges of possessing an unlicensed firearm, having suspected stolen property in his possession, and engaging in drug dealing activities.
The operation unfolded on Tuesday, 06 June 2023, at approximately 23:00, when the police acted on valuable information. They proceeded to the suspect’s residence in Chibini Location, located in the Mzantsi Administrative area just outside Butterworth. A meticulous search of the premises was conducted, leading to the discovery of an unlicensed firearm, specifically a revolver, devoid of ammunition. Additionally, law enforcement recovered fourteen (14) tik straws, one (1) complete mandrax tablet, three (3) halves of mandrax tablets, two (2) quarters of mandrax tablets, and a 60-meter length of electrical cable.
Following the seizure of the illicit items, the suspect was promptly apprehended and charged accordingly. He is set to make an appearance at the Butterworth Magistrate Court on 8 June 2023, tomorrow, to face the charges brought against him.
