KwaMaqoma – In a decisive ruling, the KwaMaqoma Magistrate’s Court has refused bail to two of the six men accused of murdering Bulelani Dayile, citing inconsistencies in their applications and a failure to prove exceptional circumstances for their release.
Lisokhanya Mpogoshe (22) and Sbongiseni Tekisa (28), who had maintained their innocence, were ordered to remain in custody after the court found they had knowingly submitted false evidence to support their bail bids.
The Magistrate, Hon. Mavuso emphasized the severity of the charges and the risk of witness interference, stating that their clean criminal records did not outweigh these concerns. The court highlighted four key reasons for denying bail: inconsistent statements in their bail applications, no exceptional circumstances justifying release, false evidence submitted to the court, and the seriousness of the charges – premeditated murder and robbery.
The two suspects will remain behind bars until May 19, when their trial is scheduled to begin. The case has drawn significant attention, with many in the community calling for justice for the slain Dayile.
Police continue to probe possible financial motives behind the killing, with further investigations expected to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding Dayile’s murder.
OurNews will provide continuous coverage of the trial and any developments in the case. Stay tuned for updates.
