Luckeez Mfowethu, the South African DJ who is known for his hit songs such as “Ntombozuko” and “Dlozi Lami”, has announced that he will be playing his new song “I’m In Love” at the upcoming Impolo Yomhlobo festival at Buffalo Park Stadium by Umhlobo Wenene FM on Saturday the 27th of May. The festival is highly anticipated and fans are excited to hear Luckeez Mfowethu’s new song.
Luckeez Mfowethu has also asked his fans to contribute to his set by choosing songs from his colorful catalogue that consists of classics like “Uthandizinto Ayisosono” and “Undenzel’intweziphantsi” and the recently released amapiano piece “Sizophumelela”. His social media feed went into a frenzy with music lovers reminding him of some of his classics that are not available on digital stores that he vowed to make them available through a re-release.
The star of the moment though is his new upcoming EDM song with the Welkom based producer Earl Beats titled “I’m In Love”. After having listened to the clip he shared, some of his fans commented saying if he had not informed them that it’s his song, they would have thought it’s probably David Guetta or an unreleased song from the late Sweedish icon Avicci.
Luckeez Mfowethu went on to explain that the song is about breaking out of an imaginary bondage he had created for himself for years, because the fear of being judged for being in love and playing Electronic Dance Music (EDM) in a country where such is viewed as ‘white music’. He hopes that the song becomes therapy for music lovers who find themselves in the same position of living in a closet of some shape or form, and dance their troubles away.
If his performance during IsiXhosa Music Festival and his last performance over the weekend at club OHMI in East London are anything to go by, music lovers and festival goers should expect a world class experience at the world renowned Buffalo Park Cricket Stadium. The following day he is expected to deliver a set at Gqeberha’s Very Own network session at Black Impala. Luckeez Mfowethu is also billed to close off the Grahamstown Arts Festival in July.
