Eastern Cape ANC has taken steps to beef up security ahead of their provincial conference in avoidance of a repeat of the 2017 chaos.
In 2017, chairs were flying in the conference with different factions assaulting one another. There have been disputes that have been sent to Luthuli House that have caused the postponement of the conference.
Paul Mashatile, ANC Treasurer General said that the conference needs to take place within 7 days and not later than 28th April to 01 May. Reports have come in that the conference is set to start on the 6th of May 2022.

15 Tablets stolen from EC School
15 brand new iPads were stolen from Kei Road Combined School which is just outside Bisho in the Eastern Cape.
The Department of Education provincial spokesperson, Vuyiseka Mboxela has confirmed the incident and further said that this was a “stab on the back of the community” as these iPads were going to assist in the rolling out of the information communication technology (ICT). This is one of the communities that depend solely on the government to provide such a skill to them and this has caused a delay in that program.

Farm workers in Kirkwood in the Sunday’s River have taken to the streets since Wednesday, demanding a R7/hour wage increase from employer. These employees have been getting R23 per hour, they are now demanding R30. They have downed tools and vowed not to go back to work until their demands are met.
