SUNDAY’S RIVER CITRUS PROTESTS

The court has granted an interim interdict to Sunday’s River farm owners. The interdict orders the protesting workers and leaders of the South African National Civic Organisation not to cross 500 meters from the farms.
Acting Judge Anusha Rawjee granted this judgement after farm owners filed an urgent application as they said that the protesting workers are damaging the already suffering citrus industry.

ILLEGAL CONNECTIONS TO COST KOMANI RESIDENTS A WARM WINTER

Komani residents are preparing for a very cold winter and may face power supply problems as illegal connections and aged infrastructure pose issues.
The Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality has said that the power cuts that sometimes last for days are due to dilapidated infrastructure, illegal connections and unchecked meter tampering.

GQEBERHA FAMILY MOURNS THEIR DAUGHTER

Nomaqocwa Blackie has died, thousands of kilometers away from home.
The Eastern Cape born Blackie was a teacher in Shanghai, China and she was found in her apartment dead.
A postmortem has not been conducted in China to determine the cause of her death.
The funeral arrangements have been stagnant as the family is awaiting China’s permission to repatriate the body.

SENZO MEYIWA MURDER TRIAL RESUMED

Senzo Meyiwa was murdered in 2014 when a night of what was supposed to be fun turned fatal.
The murder trial resumed last week and this week, it was reported that one of the accused representative was arrested for failure to appear in court for a different case.
The trial continues.

ANOTHER TOP DA MEMBER JOINS ACTIONSA

Herman Mashaba’s ActionSA has yet another top DA member joining his party. Michael Shackleton was the DA’s Gauteng North regional deputy chairperson, he announced his resignation from the DA in a video and mentioned that he has joined the rival. In his video Shackleton says “the regression of the DA as an inclusive home for all South Africans, and its abandonment of being an electoral alternative to the ANC”. He further cited that “after all, how can you be part of a party that mistreats your own community where you live? I have witnessed how the DA did nothing to support the previous councillor, Hannes Coetzee. I have witnessed how the DA did nothing to support his calls to investigate the corruption of the tender for the Rooiwal Treatment Plant”.

PETROL PRICE TO DROP

Petrol prices are set to drop with at least 34 cents while it is bad news for diesel engine owners.
Diesel is set to be at least 71 cents more expensive than it is now. Paraffin will also have an increase of at least 82 cents.
