A series of violent attacks on post office workers in Flagstaff has left three women dead and several others traumatized. The police are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
The first incident occurred on Monday, 17 April 2023, around 16:00, when a group of armed men in a red or maroon vehicle ambushed a white Ford Ranger that was carrying three female post office employees on a gravel road in Jaca locality. The men opened fire on the vehicle, killing the three women on the spot. The victims were aged between 30 and 37 and worked at different post offices in the area.
The second incident happened on Tuesday, 18 April 2023, around 08:00, when another group of armed men stormed into a post office in Main Street, Flagstaff. The men held the employees at gunpoint and demanded money and cellphones. They managed to escape with an undisclosed amount of cash and several cellphones belonging to the staff. No one was injured in this incident.
The police are investigating whether the two incidents are linked and if the same vehicle was used in both cases. They are also looking into the possibility of a syndicate targeting post offices in the region. They have urged anyone with information to contact the nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111. All information will be treated confidentially.
