MABUYANE WINS SECOND TERM
The ANC Eastern Cape elective conference took place and in the midst of credential fights, Mabuyane has taken the second term as the Chairperson.
The conference held in East London from the 5th to the 8th of May was rather a hard one for the ANC, but nothing new to the comrades as the election was delayed by court applications and security issues.
Madikizela’s side logged an urgent court application to withhold election as they questioned the credentials of some delegates. This application was struck off the court roll with costs for the Madikizela faction.

CASH-STRAPPED MUNICIPALITY WRITES OFF OVER A BILLION DEBT OWED BY RESIDENTS

The broke Amathole District Municipality has written off R1.2 billion irrecoverable debt owed by residents of the region. This municipality has been in cash problems for the longest time and below is the breakdown of the debt:
• Domestic – R 785 206 322
• Liquidated Businesses – R 67 062 684
• Indigent – R 117 127 332
• Inactive – R 13 835 171
• RDP – R 57 977 395
• Estate Lates – R 173 378 819
• Farms – R 746 830
• NGO/NPO – R 1 828 692

TEACHERS GUNNED DOWN IN THE EASTERN CAPE
A teacher who was travelling from a grade 12 revision class was gunned down by an unknown gunman who opened fire on the vehicle the teachers were travelling in. One teacher was fatally wounded. The Eastern Cape Education MEC Fundile Gade will visit the family and the school. Psychosocial efforts have been launched by the department. MEC Gade condemned the attack.

DEBORAH FRASER PASSES AWAY
The well-known gospel singer Deborah Fraser passed away on Sunday afternoon in hospital after a reported short illness. Fraser family confirmed the singer’s passing.

SENZO MEYIWA MURDER
The case has taken off in court, but there’s just mystery and conspiracy all around it. The first police man to arrive at the crime scene when Meyiwa was murdered has died, though his cause of death has not been published, he is believed to have been a key witness to the case.
The National Prosecuting Authority has confirmed that Brigadier Ndhlovu was no witness to the case and was not even in the witness list of the state.

ORLANDO PIRATES BOOKS A SPOT IN THE CAF FINAL
The Soweto team has once again booked a spot in the CAF final. This is the 4th final for Orlando Pirates since 1995.
They won the ’95 final and lost the 2013 and 2015.
With high confidence and hopes, the team is fueled on winning this one. The final will take place in Nigeria on the 20th of May.
